DOST-SEI opens the 2025 Junior Level Science Scholarships for aspiring third-year science and tech students.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has officially opened its Junior Level Science Scholarships (JLSS) for the academic year 2025–2026.

This scholarship is designed to support academically talented and deserving college students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

If you’re currently a second-year college student taking up a DOST-SEI priority course, this is your chance to apply for generous financial support and become part of the country’s future S&T professionals.

What is the DOST JLSS Scholarship?

The DOST JLSS Scholarship program aims to provide scholarships to qualified third-year college students in various science and technology courses.

There are three categories under JLSS:

  • RA 7687 – For poor but deserving students.
  • RA 10612 – For students who want to teach science and math in secondary schools.
  • DOST-SEI Merit – For students who meet the academic and moral criteria.

Scholarship Benefits

DOST scholars enjoy a wide range of financial support, including:

A. Regular Academic Year

  • Tuition Fees (Private HEIs): ₱40,000/year
  • Learning Materials/Connectivity Allowance: ₱10,000/year
  • Monthly Living Allowance: ₱8,000/month
  • Transportation Allowance: Actual fare (if studying away from home)
  • Clothing Allowance: ₱1,000 (1st semester only)
  • Group Health & Accident Insurance
  • Thesis Allowance: ₱10,000
  • Graduation Allowance: ₱1,000

B. Summer Allowance (If required)

  • Tuition and Other School Fees: ₱10,000
  • Learning Materials Allowance: ₱2,000
  • Monthly Living Allowance: ₱8,000/month (up to 2 months)

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for the DOST JLSS Scholarship, applicants must meet the following:

  • Natural-born Filipino citizen
  • A regular 2nd year college student enrolled in a DOST-SEI priority course
  • Must have a GWA of at least 83%, with no failing or conditional grades
  • Of good moral character and in good health
  • Not a current DOST scholar

Additional Criteria for RA 7687:

  • Must belong to an economically disadvantaged family
  • Must be a resident of the municipality for at least four years

  • University of the Philippines (UP) system
  • State Universities and Colleges (SUCs)
  • Private HEIs recognized as Centers of Excellence or Development, or with Level III FAAP accreditation for S&T programs

Required Documents

  • Applicants must prepare and upload the following:
  • Duly accomplished DOST JLSS Forms (A to I)
  • Official Transcript of Records (TOR) / True Copy of Grades
  • Passport-size photo
  • Birth certificate
  • Proof of income (ITR, COE, Indigency certificate, etc.)
  • Affidavit of guardianship (if applicable)
  • Marriage certificate (if married)

Important Dates

  • Application Opens: April 21, 2025
  • Application Deadline: May 23, 2025
  • Qualifying Exam Date: July 27, 2025
  • Deadline for Submission of Regular 3rd Year Certificate: August 22, 2025
  • Announcement of Qualifiers (Tentative): October 2025
  • Scholarship Effectivity: First Semester of AY 2025–2026
