Former Vice President Leni Robredo to run for Naga City Mayor
MANILA, Philippines – Former Vice President Leni Robredo will be running for mayor of Naga City.
Liberal Party leader Erin Tañada confirmed on Friday that Robredo plans to run for the Naga City mayoral position.
Earlier, Albay Representative Edcel Lagman, also the president of the Liberal Party, mentioned that Robredo told him about her decision. She wants to continue the work started by her late husband, Jesse Robredo, who was a former Naga City mayor and Interior Secretary. He passed away in a plane crash in 2012.
In 2022, Leni Robredo ran for president but finished second to Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Robredo’s running mate in the 2022 elections, former Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, has announced that he will run for senator again in the 2025 midterm elections.
