Marcos issued Proclamation 729, signed on October 30, selecting July 27, the foundation anniversary of Iglesia ni Cristo, as a special non-working day nationwide. It occurs on a Sunday in 2025.
“The proclamations declaring national holidays for the observance of Eidul Fitr and Eidul Adha will be issued after the approximate dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar (Hijra) or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is applicable,” the president’s office announced.
The PCO also stated that the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos “will recommend to the President the actual dates on which these holidays will respectively fall.”
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is tasked to issue the implementing guidelines for Proclamation 727.
