What is Security Bank Scholarship?

The Security Bank Scholarship program is an initiative introduced by the Security Bank Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Security Bank Corporation. Established in 1993, the foundation aims to alleviate poverty through various programs, including building classrooms.

The Security Bank Foundation Scholars for Better Communities Scholarship Program is designed to provide educational assistance to deserving students studying in partner schools of the foundation.

Scholarship Benefits

SBFI offers both monetary and non-monetary benefits to its scholars.

Monetary Benefits

Selected scholars are eligible for a stipend that is paid directly to their school. The amount of the stipend depends on whether the scholar is attending a state or private university.

State Universities

  • Stipend of Php 25,000 per half-semester or Php 100,000 per year where scholar gets the stipend directly from the school
  • Tuition and Miscellaneous Fees – No allotment due to “Free Tuition Law”

Private Universities

  • Stipend of Php 12,500 per half-semester or Php 50,000 per year where scholar gets the stipend directly from the school
  • Tuition and Miscellaneous Fees – Maximum of Php 100,000 per year

Non-Monetary Scholarship Benefits

In addition to financial assistance, SBFI provides developmental opportunities to its scholars. These include internships, involvement in corporate social responsibility activities, and attendance to learning sessions provided by partner institutions.

What is the Eligibility Criteria?

To apply for this scholarship program, candidates must meet certain eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate must be a graduating Grade 12 student from a public or private school
  • Latest General Weighted Average (GWA) of at least 90% or its equivalent,
  • The candidate must not have a parent currently employed or assigned in Security Bank and no other family member currently admitted to the scholarship within the second degree of consanguinity or affinity,
  • The candidate must not have any other existing scholarship except for discounts provided by schools,
  • Finally, the candidate must enroll in any of the 8 partner schools in NCR.

Documentary Requirements

To apply for the scholarship, applicants must submit the following documents:

For Application:

  • A duly accomplished online application form
  • Latest Grade 12 Report Card with Final General Weighted Average (up to latest available quarter grading, if no final GWA)
  • Latest Parent/Guardian’s Income Tax Return (for employed) / Certificate of Indigency (for unemployed) / Copy of OFW Employment Contract with Compensation
  • Proof of Admission / Acceptance Letter from any of the 8 Partner Schools
  • Birth Certificate of Scholar
  • Portrait Photo of Scholar

Upon admission to the scholarship program:

  • Certificate of Enrollment / Registration Card for A.Y. 2024-2025
  • A copy of school calendar for A.Y. 2024-2025
  • Copy of School Grading System (if the school does not use percentage [%] for grading)
  • A copy of Course/Program curriculum
  • Copy of Parent/Guardian’s Government Issued ID (for notary)

Applicants must ensure that they have all the required documents in order to be considered for the scholarship.

Application Period

  • The Security Bank Scholarship online application will open on June 1, 2024.
  • Scholars must submit their applications by the deadline of June 30, 2024.
